Rhoneymeade is providing tree saplings for community members on
Saturdays and Sundays from October 1 - 22, at from 10 AM - 2 PM
This fall Rhoneymeade is teaming up to help plant 10 million trees in Pennsylvania by 2025. This effort is a partnership between Pennsylvania Interfaith Power and Light and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, which are providing native trees and shrubs along with tubes and stakes free to help protect our greater Chesapeake Bay Watershed. The goal is to restore biodiversity by providing more native plants as the base of the food chain (especially native insects) and to sequester excess carbon from our atmosphere.
Rhoneymeade will be providing free plants to anyone who will join this project. Plants can be obtained at Rhoneymeade, Saturday or Sunday, beginning October 1st to October 22nd, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There is no charge for the plants, stakes or tubes, however, any donations would be appreciated.
You may choose from the following varieties, while supplies last:
Nine bark River Birch Spice Bush
Black Elderberry Winterberry Button Bush
Serviceberry Flowering Dogwood Red Bud
You will note that these varieties are particularly valuable to our native songbirds, as a major source of berries and insects. Simple planting instructions will be provided.
Join the fun in planting for our native wildlife!
